Appliances are some of the heaviest and most awkward things in any home, which is why appliance removals Dublin households book often need more care than people expect. Moving Service Dublin moves fridges, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and cookers between homes and from sellers.
It is part of the wider range on our services page, and if you only have one appliance to move, our small removals option is a good fit.
Preparing Each Appliance
Most of the work happens before the van arrives. Here is what to do with the most common appliances:
- Fridges and freezers. Empty them and switch off at least 24 hours before so the freezer can defrost. Wipe out the water and leave the doors slightly open to stop smells.
- Washing machines. Turn off the water, disconnect the hoses and drain the filter at the bottom. Fit the transit bolts if you still have them, as they stop the drum moving.
- Tumble dryers. Empty the water tank on condenser models and clean the lint filter. Disconnect the vent hose on vented models.
- Dishwashers. Run an empty cycle, drain any water and tie up the hoses.
- Cookers. Gas cookers should be disconnected by a registered gas installer. Electric cookers wired directly to the wall should be disconnected by an electrician.
Why Fridges Travel Upright
Fridges and freezers contain oil and coolant that can move into the wrong part of the system if they are laid flat. That is why we always move them upright and strapped. Once a fridge arrives at its new home, leave it standing for several hours before switching on so everything can settle. Check the manufacturer's guidance, as some models recommend longer.
Protecting Floors and Doorways
Appliances are heavy enough to dent wooden floors and chip tiles if they are dragged. We lift rather than slide wherever possible, and use blankets on corners and door frames. In terraced houses where the kitchen is at the back, the carry through the hall can be tight, so we take hall doors off their hinges if needed. Clear the route of rugs, shoes and pram wheels before we arrive so nobody trips while carrying a heavy load.

Appliance Removals Dublin Kitchens Need
Dublin kitchens can make appliance moves tricky. Integrated appliances are built in behind cabinet doors and need careful removal. Utility rooms in older houses can be small, with washing machines squeezed under worktops. American style fridge freezers are often too wide for standard doorways, and the doors may need to come off to get them through. Let us know the model or the measurements so we can plan the route.
We use blankets and straps to protect each appliance and your walls, and we are fully insured. Appliances are placed where you want them at the new address, ready for connection.
What We Do Not Do
We move appliances, but we do not plumb them in, connect gas or carry out electrical work. Have a plumber, gas installer or electrician lined up where needed, so everything is up and running quickly.
