Flats come in every shape in this city, and flat removals Dublin style usually mean stairs, tight hallways and not much parking. At Moving Service Dublin we plan each flat move around the building itself, because getting things out the door is often the hardest part of the job.

Period Conversions and Walk Ups
Many flats around Rathmines, Ranelagh, Portobello and Phibsborough are in converted Georgian and Victorian houses. They have high steps up to the front door, narrow staircases and sharp turns on the landing. Large sofas, double wardrobes and box spring beds can be a real challenge to get in and out.
Before moving day, measure your biggest items and the narrowest point of the stairs. If a piece looks tight, it may need to come apart. Let us know about it in advance and we will plan how to bring it down safely without scraping walls or banisters.
Modern Blocks and Managed Buildings
Newer blocks in places like Smithfield, Grand Canal Dock, Sandyford and Clongriffin are easier on the stairs but come with their own rules:
- Many have set hours for moving in and out, often weekdays only.
- Lifts may need to be booked and padded through management.
- Underground car parks can have low height limits, so we may need to load from the street.
- Fobs and access codes are needed for doors, gates and bin stores.
Contact your management company early and ask for their move rules in writing. It saves a lot of hassle on the day.
Basement and Garden Flats
Garden level flats often sit below street level, with steep steps down from the footpath and a gate or railings in the way. Furniture may need to be lifted over rather than wheeled through, so let us know if there are steps or a side lane. Some mews and rear flats have access only from a back laneway, which can be too narrow for a van, so mention this when you book and we will plan the shortest safe carry.

Flat Removals Dublin Without the Stress
Every item is wrapped in moving blankets, and we take extra care in shared hallways and stairwells, where scuffs can lead to complaints from neighbours or deductions from your deposit. We are fully insured, and we carry furniture steadily rather than rushing up and down stairs.
Most one and two bed flats fit in a single van load, especially if the flat came furnished and you are only moving your own belongings. If you have more than expected, we will tell you up front whether it needs a second trip and include that in your fixed price.
Leaving Your Flat in Good Shape
Take photos of every room once it is empty, return all keys and fobs, and take final meter readings. Check behind doors, in the hot press and under the sink, as those are the spots where things most often get left behind.
