Southside homes and their quirks
South Dublin has some of the trickiest access in the city, so planning matters:
- Victorian and Edwardian redbricks in Rathmines, Ranelagh and Rathgar often have granite steps, basement flats and narrow, curving stairs
- Flats in converted period houses can be on the top floor with no lift
- Apartment complexes in Sandyford, Cherrywood and around Dundrum need booked lift times and basement car park access
- Pay and display and permit parking is common, so we often need a spot arranged near the door
- Hilly roads in Killiney, Dalkey and the foothills around Rathfarnham can make loading slower
We wrap furniture well before it leaves the room, protect banisters and door frames, and take our time on tight stairs.

We regularly help students moving near UCD in Belfield, young professionals changing apartments around the Luas Green Line, and families moving between estates in Knocklyon, Ballinteer and Churchtown. Getting around the southside
The M50 links Tallaght, Ballinteer and Sandyford quickly, but the N11 at Stillorgan, the Rock Road and the roads around Dundrum can be very busy at rush hour. We time moves to avoid the worst traffic, and we know which side roads to use when the main routes are clogged.
Further west, Tallaght, Citywest and Saggart have plenty of newer estates and apartment blocks near the Red Line Luas. These are usually straightforward for parking, though some developments have height limits on basement car parks that the van cannot fit under, so we load from the street instead. Up towards the mountains in Glenasmole, Ballyboden and Kilternan, narrow roads and steep driveways can need extra care.
School runs around Terenure, Blackrock and Booterstown also slow things down in the morning and mid afternoon, so we plan loading around them where we can.
