Removals Dublin to Cork are one of the most popular long distance moves we do at Moving Service Dublin. People head south for work, for family, for college or simply for a change of pace, and the route is straightforward with motorway almost the whole way. We collect from your Dublin address, drive your belongings down and unload them at your new home on the same day for most loads.

The Dublin to Cork route
From Dublin we take the M50 to the Red Cow and join the M7 south past Naas, Kildare and Portlaoise, then switch to the M8 near Portlaoise and continue through Cashel, Mitchelstown and Fermoy into Cork. It is roughly 260 kilometres and usually takes around three hours of driving, depending on traffic around the M50 and the Dunkettle Interchange at the Cork end.
We plan departure times to avoid the worst of the Dublin rush hour, so a typical move starts with an early morning load and arrives in Cork around lunchtime or early afternoon.
How a Dublin to Cork move works
We run one transit van with a driver who also moves. For a flat, a one or two bedroom home, or a student or single person move, everything usually goes in one trip. For larger homes we plan the load in advance and tell you honestly if a second trip or a larger vehicle is needed.
- Furniture is wrapped in blankets and stretch film before loading
- Everything is strapped securely so it does not shift on the motorway
- Beds and wardrobes can be taken apart in Dublin and put back together in Cork
- You get a fixed price quote, with tolls and fuel included
- The move is fully insured from door to door

Removals Dublin to Cork: arriving at your new home
Cork has its own access quirks. The city centre has narrow streets around Shandon and the Marsh, and older houses on the hills of Sunday's Well, Montenotte and St Luke's can have steep steps and tight parking. Newer estates in Ballincollig, Carrigaline or Douglas are usually easier. If you are moving into an apartment in the Docklands or on the quays, check whether the building needs a booked lift slot.
Let us know about access at the Cork end when you ask for a quote, and we will plan the unload accordingly. A quick photo of the street or entrance over WhatsApp is always helpful.
Tips before you leave Dublin
