Removals Dublin to Galway take you from one coast to the other, and with the M6 running almost the whole way, it is one of the easier long distance moves in Ireland. At Moving Service Dublin we collect from anywhere in Dublin, drive west and unload at your new place in Galway the same day for most loads.

The Dublin to Galway route
We leave Dublin on the M4 past Maynooth and Kinnegad, then join the M6 and continue through Kilbeggan, Athlone and Ballinasloe before reaching Galway. It is around 210 kilometres and typically takes around two and a half hours of driving, depending on traffic leaving Dublin and on the approach roads into Galway city, which can be slow at peak times.
Most of our Galway moves load in Dublin in the morning and arrive by early afternoon, leaving plenty of daylight to unload and settle in.
What to expect on your move west
We run one transit van with a driver who also moves. Studio flats, one and two bedroom homes, and student moves usually fit in a single trip. For larger homes we plan the load and trips in advance, or arrange a larger vehicle where needed, and we tell you which before you book.
- Every piece of furniture is wrapped in blankets before loading
- Fragile items are packed tightly so they do not move on the road
- Flat pack and bed frames are taken apart and reassembled
- You get a fixed price quote, with fuel and tolls included
- Fully insured from your Dublin door to your Galway door

Removals Dublin to Galway: unloading in the city and county
Galway city has its own quirks. The streets around the Latin Quarter and Shop Street are pedestrianised for much of the day, and terraced houses in the West End, Newcastle and the Claddagh often have tight on street parking. Apartments in Salthill or around the Docks may require a booked loading time. Moves out to Oranmore, Moycullen, Barna or into Connemara are a little further but usually easier for access.
Tell us about the Galway address when you ask for a quote, and send a photo of the entrance or street if parking looks tight. We plan the unload around it.
Moving to Galway for college
Many of our Galway runs are for students heading to the University of Galway or ATU. If your load is small, such as a few boxes, a desk, a bike and a mattress, ask about a small move so you are not paying for more van than you need.
