Routes from Dublin into Wicklow
The coast via the M11
For Bray, Greystones, Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow town and Arklow we take the M50 to the M11 and head south. Bray is often only around half an hour from the south side of Dublin, Greystones a little more, Wicklow town around forty five minutes to an hour, and Arklow around an hour. The stretch at Kilmacanogue near the Sugar Loaf can slow down at peak times, so we plan around it.
West Wicklow via the N81
For Blessington, Baltinglass and the Poulaphouca area, we leave the M50 at Tallaght and take the N81. This road is single carriageway for much of the way and passes through small villages, so we allow a bit more time and plan the arrival carefully.
The mountains
Homes around Roundwood, Laragh, Glendalough or Enniskerry are reached on narrow, winding roads. They are beautiful, but tight bends and steep hills mean we take it steady with a loaded van.
Coming from the north side of Dublin? We take the M50 round to the M11 or N81, which adds a little time but is still a comfortable one day move. Many people moving to Wicklow are leaving apartments in Dublin, so we plan around your lift booking at the start and head straight south once loaded.

Local tips for Wicklow moves
Bray seafront and the streets around Main Street get very busy on sunny weekends, and parking near the promenade is tight. Greystones harbour area and Church Road can be similar. A weekday move is usually easier in both. Newer estates in Greystones, such as those around Charlesland and Delgany, have wider roads and driveways that make loading quick.
Rural Wicklow homes often have long gravel drives, gates and soft ground. Send us a photo or map pin of the approach and let us know about any low branches or tight entrances. For larger homes we plan the number of trips in advance or arrange a bigger vehicle where needed.
Because Wicklow is so close, we also do plenty of smaller jobs here, such as bringing a sofa or a few boxes down to a holiday home in Brittas Bay, or moving a student into a flat in Bray. You do not need a full house move to book a Dublin to Wicklow run.
Before moving day
- Confirm access and keys for the new property
- Pack essentials and documents in your own car
- Label boxes by room to speed up unloading
- Check the weather, as conditions in the hills can change quickly
